This design proposed a new Centre of National Significance for BMX, mountain biking and road cycling disciplines, and to be built to Sport England’s Competition Standards.

The programme includes a BMX track, club house (which will also house a bike workshop), and a small retail space. The clubhouse will also be the base for a road racing team and a mountain biking team, while providing facilities for other clubs in the area to use. It is an initial aim of the scheme to reintroduce cycling proficiency and provide services for disabled groups.

The project will attempt to pull together a large part of the community around the common and increasingly popular sport and pastime of cycling. At the same time, employment opportunities for disadvantaged groups in the area will be developed and promoted; the project aspires to use local unemployed persons to assist in the building.
